Gliding - it puts a smile on your face!

Learn to Glide at Bicester Airfield!

Based at Bicester Airfield, just north of Oxford, Windrushers is the premier gliding centre in Oxfordshire. The club is open to anyone interested in learning to glide.

Fly a glider and caress the sky - gliding, the ultimate high!

Bicester Airfield has been an active airfield for over 80 years, and was one of the first airfields in Oxfordshire.
Gliding started here in 1956 with Windrushers Gliding Club, which was later absorbed into the RAFGSA. The club became a separate entity again when the RAF decided to move their side of the operation to RAF Halton. We take members from all walks of life - we are no longer restricted by the military in who can join.

Our club fleet of gliders includes two-seater gliders with dual controls for training beginners (all lessons are with qualified gliding instructors), and single-seaters for use by those who reach solo standard. And yes, almost everyone who takes up the sport of gliding goes solo - if you can drive a car, you can fly a glider! The minimum age to go solo in a glider is 16 and we can start training youngsters interested in gliding as young as 15.

For those who haven't yet seen us from above, take a look at the airfield!
