The October 2007 Committee Meeting.

Not the official minutes

I was listening in on how the Committee handle running the Club. The most obvious thing was how responsive to feedback they are. The increase in caravan slot fees to cover cutting the grass was discussed and postponed until July 2008, due to members' responses. But the grass has to be kept tidy according to our lease. So an opt in scheme will be used for those who'd like it done for them, with inspections on the pitches that say I'll do it myself.

There has been a lot of forum talk about mid-week flying. It is possible that next year we will have more paid staff - job specs are being drawn up at this moment. Of course it would help if more members turned up to fly mid-week, as staff cost money.

Speaking of money, if we run some corporate evenings regularly next year, this could help pay for extra staff and in turn encourage more mid-week flying. but it would need some instructors to turn up to make it practical. Also on money, there was s suggestion that perhaps we could waive the per minute fee on launches done early in the morning, to encourage an earlier start . What so you think? Other clubs do this, and I remember being nudged awake by the lovely Fiona one morning at Lasham to be told "Listen - they're winching already!" - before 8:00am.

Can we do mid-week winching now that the Uni crowd are back with us? It needs a bit of effort, but it might be on.

NEW - a Club Email News Alert system will be tested for a couple of months. So read your emails!

Not happy with how things are run? As one member said to me recently, don't criticize if you are not willing to stand for a position! And with the imminent AGM, two directors have to stand down, and one is not seeking re-election. Also, Claire, due to pressure of her new job, will be standing down as Marketing person.
