Wednesday's News

8:00am It's looking a bit nicer this morning, and nice tasks are being set. The weatherman even feels safe enough to come to the airfield today.

10:30am Tasks set, 290km for Open and 212km for Sport
Open is BNW - NPT - MAE - LA5 - ILS - WSL - BC1
Sport is BNW - STS - MEM - KGS - DID - CAL - BCI

11:10am Launching the Open Class now. Weather still nice.

11:55 Sport Class launching now.

12:50 Open are starting with quite a spread in times plus several restarts,
Sport class are a bit more bunched together however.

13:00 Amost all on task, and then they call for the crew of 584..

14:29 And FWW is down now, as is LD.

15:10 The first of the Open Class are back - 64 (early starter) called 10 km, then five mins later, someone else did, soon followed by 290, F2 (later starter) and then another one. CCR has landed back, as did 164 (both achieved short distances. Strange, as CCR did 300 just a month ago.)
No sign of the Sport Class finishing so far.
15:22 K5 is 10km out. Two mins later, JF and X17 called as well, then LS8, my little glider! Followed by 333
15:27 F1 and W are 10km out. (W started after F1 however) One minute later, it's 10, a late starter (but no quite late enough to catch F2, I think).

15:31 - we'd expect some Sport Class in the next 10-20 mins. Oh, and 911 is 10km out. Sky is still looking acceptable.
15:41 - W4 is the first from the Sport Class
15:44 144 and X8 are 10km out
15:49 615 and D8, another two from the sporty ones, are 10km out, as is FLY,
And FMU, a later starter with a low handicap, is with that group as well.
15:52 S27 is 10km out, as is D54
15:56 379 at 10km, as is EHT and 2ZC
16:00 502 is 10km, as is J15 - looks like a fair number of finishers, so it's a good day. Sky is a bit less encouraging now.
16:02 93 at 10km and crew were called for HPM
16:08 170 is 10km out, so still a chance of more finishers, but not KDV whose crew was just called. But 846 is coming home!
16:13 497 is 10km out, 196 is 2km out, could be looking at a large number of finishers overall
Two mins behind is KRF and HBF, with LL 10km out too.
16:22 P10 is 10km. But crew of R10 have just been called for. Two mins later, AC and C29 call 10km, and two mins later, EF and T19
Ah, one of those I missed earlier was DW, and he may have beat F2

16:30 Scoring now, come back in an hour or so, and then 775 calls 10km at 16:43

20:15 17 out of 25 Sport class got round, and 26 out of 36 finished in the Open class.

21:00 Scoring was completed but while I was doing something else, the scoring computer was switched off, so it will be tomorrow before I can put the scores online. But we did have 1000 point days in both classes.

Luke Hornsey, in 574, won Day 3

Alistair Harrison took second place in FMU

Mike Howey was third in his DG200
