The Bicester Regionals 2008
Monday's News
8:00am Good morning. Dan the WeatherMan is quite confident of good weather today, so Max is busy setting tasks. As it was a bit cool last night, Dan is predicting a high cloud-base from mid-day onwards. But cloud streaming in from the Cheshire gap is down past the Nympsfield area already.
10:45am And the tasks are set.
Sport = Calvert - Ely - Bottesford - Bic Airfield = 312.0km
Open = Bicester Northwest - Ely - Bottesford - Bic Airfield = 320km
The sniffer is up and first launch hasn't been decided yet.
12:00 Sniffer sounds a bit happier now, first launch for Open class at 12:15pm.
12:20pm The Sporty lot are dropping back to Task B
Calvert - Gratham Water- Melton Mobry - Bic Airfield = 225.9km
We are grateful for sniffers from Booker, Lasham and HusBos for landing here for a cuppa...
Majority of Open class started within 8 minutes of the gate opening, then six sneaky ones restarted 18 minutes later...
14:10 And most of the Sport class have gone too. Even Debbie in her Ka6e.
15:12 And so far I haven't heard of any land-outs.
Oops - I knew I shouldn't have said that - I just heard that T19 is down.
16:00 KMC is down and K19 landed back (don't know why). And AH is on the ground somewhere now.
16:20 It's beginning to look a bit blueish now - well wispy whiteish and blueish.
16:23 And the crew of GW has just been called for.
16:48 Finishers soon! JF, one of the early Open class starters, is just 20km away. But K5 is 15km away... While Z27 is only 10km away. As is 906.
17:05 A few more are calling that they are coming home - DUO, 7, 963 and X8, but a few more have landed out, including GAM and 466. Will we have a Sport class finisher or two?
17:14 And a gaggle of Open class gliders are due here soon, along with MF, the first one from the Sport class
17:25 And BJ gives us our second Sport class finisher.
17:38 Well, 379 has just called marginal five minutes, 264 will be here soon, as will my LS8 and EW2,
and a few others. It's nice to have finishers in both classes (gives the task setter less hassle).
Oh dear, Debbie has landed out.
21:59 We have a 1000 point day for the Open class now.
00:14am And it's 1000 points in the Sport class too, with a couple still to do. but we're tired so it's time for beddie-byes now.
