Summary of Management Committee Meeting on 10th February 2007


Here is a note of some of the main points considered by the Committee at its recent meeting. As always a full set of the minutes is posted outside the main briefing room.

Minimum Hours to Fly BGA Rotax Falke.
Minimum hours is a combined total of gliding and motorglider P1 of 250 hrs. CFI has the authority to reduce this requirement to 200 hrs.

Appointment of Child Protection Officer(CPO).
Alan Twigg has agreed to be the club CPO.

Timing of Management Committee Meetings.
The Committee has agreed to try meeting on the first Sunday of each month, at 0800!

Draft 2006/7 Balance Sheet.
The draft balance sheet for 2006/7 showed the year was likely to make a significant contribution to club reserves as had the previous year. The Committee reaffirmed its plans to buy a motorglider.

2007 Operations and Staff.
Operations are to be similar to 2006. Max is to be employed as before, Mike Pettican to be 5 days/week. Mid week, first priority is to be a daily briefing and launch of club members on x-country tasks. Also, the club plans to run 3 BGA Instructor Courses and Max is to be asked to run Soaring Courses interspersed with “Learn to Glide” courses.

OUGC Expedition Use of Club Astir.
OUGC are club members and as such can use the club Astir. Normal flying rates are applicable and no hire fee will be charged. However, full flying logs on WGC log sheets are to be maintained and if the Astir is damaged, arrangements have to be made for an appropriate contribution from OUGC towards the insurance excess of £500.

2007 Regional Comp. Up-Date.
The entry list has been closed at 75 entries, the maximum the club can handle safely. A reserve list has been opened. A volunteer to be Competition Site CFI is required, please contact Dickie Feakes.

Rostering a Second Duty Pilot.
A second Duty Pilot is to be rostered.

Flying Discipline.
All solo pilots are to have annual checks. On launching, there is a new requirement to have a hand on the cable release below 50 ft. Ending a flight by crossing the airfield boundary below 30 ft. is no longer permitted (CAA requirement) and if done during a comp. will be penalised.
